On May 15th from 5-7 pm, the Master of Science in Foreign Service Program at Georgetown University will be hosting the celebration of the launch of Professor Ross Harrison’s new book Strategic Thinking in 3D: A Guide for National Security, Foreign Policy and Business Professionals (Potomac Books, an imprint of the University of Nebraska Press: 2013). All are welcome. The event will take place on Georgetown’s main campus in the Intercultural Center in the Executive Conference on the 7th floor. To RSVP, please go to this link.
Prof Harrison will spend 10-15 minutes discussing what motivated him to write the book and how it can be used to resuscitate strategy in the fields of foreign policy, national security and international business. Following the presentation, Professor Anthony Clark Arend, Director of MSFS, will moderate a panel discussion between Professor Harrison, Professor Alejandra Bolanos (from National Defense University) and Professor Audrey Bracey Deegan (formerly with Deloitte and McKinsey). The discussion will center around the differences and similarities between the security and business domains in terms of how strategy is conducted. Strategic Thinking in 3D argues that there are universal principals of strategy which transcend the traditional boundaries between national security and international business. The panel discussion will address the common threads of strategy, but also bring out some of the significant differences across the different fields.
Coffee and light snack will be served.
